Exercise Physiology
Exercise physiology is the field of sports medicine that involves the study of the body's response to physical stress. it includes the science of fitness and the role of fitness in the prevention and treatment of disease.
Exercise physiology includes the understanding of how our bodies obtain energy from the food we eat and use that energy to initiate and sustain muscle activity. this knowledge is especially valuable for the help we provide for athletes. most athletes initially see us for help with a sports related injury, but when they see not only a rapid healing of their injury, but a significant improvement in their athletic performance they are ecstatic.
The care we provide, using exercise physiology as a tool, can help those who are mildly athletic (regular walking, light strength training, etc) to those who play high impact sports (football, lacrosse, wrestling, etc.) to those who participate in prolonged strenuous exercise such as done in endurance sports like marathons, triathlons, and road bicycle racing.
